Thought this was pretty cool

From rideuk's "dirtbox." in the March 2008 issue.

When Stew Johnson was asked "Do you think BMX has changed much over the last 10 years?" his response was:

In my eyes bike riding never really changes. The great thing about BMX is that it's different things to different people. For a guy wants to make a living and be a rockstar, he can train at Woodward and go to the Dew Tour and be on TV and sign autographs and BMX can be that recognition for him...and that's totally fine. For a guy who works 40 hours a week and needs an escape from his shitty boss and the 'real world,' he can spend his free time at the trails digging mounds of dirt and shooting the shit with his buddies while drinking beers, and BMX can be that escape for him. For a kid who's having problems with his family and needs to take out his agressions, he can go out street riding by himself and grind that ledge and BMX can be that release for him.

I think that's the way BMX was 10 years ago and that's the way it will always be. So, as far as BMX changing, it only changes if you want it to. Sure you're always going to have people pushing for progression in BMX via new tricks, new parts, new fashions, and so on. But you have to realize for every 18 year old kid out there with no brakes, a New Era hat, and an extra long white T-shirt nibbling on The Come Up, that there will also be a 28 year old guy with a straight cable, a trucker cap, and a medium thrift store shirt who doesn't give two shits about the internet. And let's not forget about the 32 year old guy at the local skatepark who has a gyro, front brakes, Standard 6-piece Strip bars, and an XL Poorboy shirt who hasn't seen a new video since Style Cats came out, and really couldn't care less either. The point is, it doesn't matter what other people are doing, riding, or wearing. The great thing about BMX is that it's not football, and there are no rules that dictate how you play. You do what you want, when you want, and how you want to. There is no wrong or right, and thankfully that will never change.

Your Welcome

The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

We are Young, We are Free, We All Live Pleasantly

Thanks again for all that came out Friday night. Definitely ended up a very loooose night. Talked to a bunch of people today that really enjoyed it, so we're going to try and make premiers pretty regular. We never got around to showing the FU vid, so that premiere will be next.

Best act of the night had to be Jerry and Nathan jumping off the roof of the bar, onto a bus for a free drink. Solid work from solid characters.
